Martha's Vineyard 2010.

This year I spent the Fourth of July weekend in the Town of Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. I must say I had an AMAZING time! It was great to just escape for a little from the Big City and just enjoy the simple things in life. I stayed in our summer home off of Dorthy West road on Myrtle street. The one great thing about Martha's Vineyard is that its a TRUE island. Only way to get to the island is by boat or air. The people are warm, the clothes are preppy/trad, the beaches are cool and the food was great. What more can you ask for?? Nightlife, check! Below is a little information on Martha's Vineyard.

Martha's Vineyard (including the smaller Chappaquiddick Island) is an island off the south of Cape Cod in New England. The islands both form a part of the Outer Lands region.

Often called just "The Vineyard," the island has a land area of 87.48 square miles (231.75 km²) and is the 58th largest island in the United States, and the third largest on the East Coast of the United States. It is the largest true island of the East Coast of the US (not connected to mainland by a bridge or tunnel).

Oak Bluffs is most well known for its gingerbread cottages, open harbor, and its vibrant town along busy Circuit Avenue. Oak Bluffs enjoys a reputation as one of the more active night-life towns on the island for both residents and tourists, and is also a "wet" town. It was known as "Cottage City" from its separation from Edgartown in 1880 until its reincorporation as Oak Bluffs in 1907. Oak Bluffs includes several communities that have been popular destinations for affluent African Americans since the early twentieth century.

It also includes the East Chop peninsula, Lagoon Heights and Harthaven.

A typical day on the island in the summer:

-Brunch
-Beach and drinks
-Lunch either on the beach or Circuit Ave.
-Beach
-Dinner
-Club Party
-House Party
-Beach

Pretty Nice Right?!?! Here are some places you have to go to while there:

-Linda Jean's for Breakfast - Long line but GREAT food!
-Murray's Toggery Shop - Pick up a pair of Authentic Nantucket Reds
-Nancy's - You HAVE to try the Lobster Roll.
-South Beach - DJ on certain days
-Inkwell Beach - Prominent Black Beach with LOTS of History
-Island Bar and Cafe - Lobster Quesedilla, Enough Said.

Great Times!! Can't wait till next year.
